2026 Scholarship Recipients

On April 29, 2026, we awarded two more scholarships to graduating Nease High School seniors. The recipients of this year’s Griffin Moody Scholarship are Piper Crecco and Mitchell Spore. Piper and Mitchell were selected after interviewing the six finalists, and while all the finalists were very accomplished in their own right, we were most impressed with Piper and Mitchell for their overall accomplishments both in and out of school, and their ambitions going forward. As with all of our recipients over the years, we’re confident Griffin would be most pleased with our selection of Piper and Mitchell. Piper and Mitchell will be both be attending the University of Florida in the fall.

Piper Crecco

Piper spent her 4 years at Nease in a wide variety of classes and activities. She excelled in all things academic, and was a member of the National Honor Society. She was also an accomplished soccer player on the Varsity Soccer team as well as club soccer for many years. She volunteered for the St Vincent Food Pantry, as well as Valley Ridge Academy and at UF Health Flagler Hospital. There she shadowed and assisted ICU nurses and radiologists. In 2025, she was honored to participate in the Science Program for the Advancement of Research Knowledge (SPARK) at the Mayo Clinic where she worked in a research lab on Glioblastoma Cells, conducted experiments and analyzed data. In her free time, Piper also participated in clubs and enjoyed her time at Nease. It seems her experience at the Mayo Clinic will serve her well!

Piper is attending the University of Florida, studying Cellular and Molecular Biology.

Mitchell Spore

Mitchell also excelled in his years at Nease. He was in the Stellar Academy of Engineering, graduated as a member of the National Honor Society, as well as the honor of holding the positions of Company Commander and Company Executive Officer of the Nease JROTC. Outside of school, he became an Eagle Scout and very active with the Boy Scouts. He was also captain of Nease Cross Country and ran with Varsity Track and Field. His volunteer work circled around his activities with the Boy Scouts, NJROTC, Nease Cross Country and National. Honor Society. He also had a job with Robocor, a startup in Jax Beach called “Silicon Beach. Mitchell didn’t let any grass grow under his feet!

Mitchell is attending the University of Florida, and is studying Mechanical Engineering.
